Our Newmarket clients wanted to transform their existing finished basement into a self-contained legal basement apartment complete with two bedrooms, laundry, bathroom, and kitchen.
We began the project by creating a new separate entrance to the basement stairs. Since the basement stairs were located on the exterior wall, we were able to cut through and install a new door directly to the stair landing—no digging required. Once we had direct access to the basement, we completed a full demolition of the existing space and started fresh.
No expense was spared on this build. We installed spray foam insulation throughout, added comprehensive soundproofing with resilient channels, upgraded to quartz countertops, and included a walk-in pantry among many other premium features. The result is a stunning, legal rental unit that adds significant value to the home.
